BlackBerry's Key Changes for Success

By: Michael Bestavros

Over the past 5 years, RIM has had a lot of trouble with staying competitive in the telecommunications market. Companies such as Samsung, Apple, and HTC are constantly innovating their products with new technology and sleek designs which resulted in BlackBerry slowly  falling behind the competition. The company which once relied on their QWERTY keyboard brick designed phone, now had to change their product to appeal to a touchscreen market. This is when the company released the BlackBerry Bold 9900 which was the first QWERTY keyboard phone with a touchscreen.
This was a very successful launch for the company, due to the fact the the phones new design was so diverse in comparison to their older model phones. Unfortunately the phone had many technological problems which resulted in a serious decrease in the companies stock price. After a couple of years of consistent losses, the company decided to implement a complete change to their products but making their first all touch screen phone. The company changed their name to just "BlackBerry" and released the BlackBerry Z10 LTE smartphone.
